Healthy meat: Our Organic lambs eat mainly organic grass and hay, so are naturally higher in omega-3 fatty acids than conventionally produced lambs on a cereal based diet. Our lamb is an important source of easily absorbable iron, zinc and vitamin B12 which make it a vital part of a healthy diet for you and your children. Did you know there is much more iron in lamb than in spinach! More Information
Happy meat:Strict organic regulations and controls mean that you can rely on the highest emphasis being placed on the health and welfare of the individual animals. Our lambs are fattened out of doors in species-rich meadows, where not just they but their mothers as well can be seen gambolling & prancing in the most delightful way in the early evening, not cramped up in buildings without natural daylight. In simple terms stressed animals produce poorer quality meat. We are very fortunate in having a small fully accredited local abattoir 15 minutes away. We take the lambs there ourselves in small groups the same morning that they are processed.

What does your whole lamb box actualy contain?
You will get 2 legs (approx weight 2.5 kg each); 2 shoulders (approx weight 1.4 kg each); the chops (some loin chops left joined as butterfly chops); the breast cut into several pieces; the neck cut in chunks; the liver, heart and 2 kidneys. Our charges are calculated on the carcass weight of our organic lamb. You will find a carcass weight ticket in your box. This means the weight of the whole skinned carcass minus head, tail & feet .and “insides” When the meat is cut up the excess fat is trimmed and the legs and shoulders are partially de-boned. We deliver your lamb prepared ready to cook or freeze, and do not include all the fat and bone trimmings unless you specifically request this at the time of placing your order. The trimming represent somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5kg. back to F.A.Q'S back to F.A.Q'S
You will find the liver, heart and kidneys in your whole lamb box but not the lungs or trachaea. If you do not want the offal included please let us know when placing your order back to F.A.Q'S
Yes, but the majority of our customers buy a whole lamb each time they order, so there will probably be a short delay while we wait for another customer to place an order for the other half. As you can see from the FAQ above, a whole lamb will not take up a huge amount of space in your freezer. In addition, paying for your lamb on-line can help to spread the cost. Look at our order policy to see how we can spead the payements for you. back to F.A.Q'S
But wont it take up a huge amount of room in the freezer?
One of our Organic lambs will occupy a full shelf in an upright freezer, that is about 60 cm x 20 cm 50cms approx. back to F.A.Q'S
But how do you keep your meat fresh if it is delivered in the post?
Simple, we use the same space age technology that is used for courrier transport of frozen ice cream in the United States, the packaging is even efficient enough to deliver ice cream in the desert without it melting! See here for more details. back to F.A.Q'S
